For rooms with a lot of sunlight choose a unit with at least 10% more BTUs than what is required by the size of the room.

For kitchens select a unit with 4 000 more BTUs than what is required by the size of the room.

If the room will contain more than 2 people on a regular basis add an additional 600 BTUs per person.
